Naturschutzbiologie und Klimawandel

Die Naturschutzbiologie befasst sich klassisch mit dem Einfluss von anthropogenen Einflüssen auf Populationen, wie z.B. der Habitatverkleinerung, –verinselung, –verschlechterung und –fragmentierung, die alle ihr Aussterben verursachen können. Sie ist größtenteils ökologische Grundlagenforschung. Der aktuell beobachtete Klima- und Landschaftswandel induziert nicht nur Änderungen in den Populationsgrößen und der Verbreitung von Arten, sondern auch mikroevolutive Prozesse in Populationen. Letztere werden als Änderungen in der Zusammensetzung des Genpools von Populationen sichtbar und können bereits innerhalb kurzer Zeiträume zum Aussterben von Arten oder zur Entstehung von neuen an die geänderten Umweltbedingungen angepassten Arten führen. Wir erheben eigene Daten im Freiland und verwenden Literaturdaten zur Biologie der Arten, und schätzen mit selbst entwickelten, meist individuenbasierten, Simulationsmodellen oder mit statistischen Modellen die Überlebenswahrscheinlichkeit von Populationen und Arten ab.
